Roberta A. Smith
Wilder, VT – Roberta A. Smith, 68, died Thursday morning March 11th at home surrounded by family.
She was born August 5, 1941 in Craftsbury, VT a daughter of Milton and Madaline (Stearns) Twiss. She grew up in Wilder and attended schools in Hartford before beginning work in the Dining Services at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover. While working at the Hospital she met Larry Smith, they were married August 17, 1957 in Wilder. They lived in Strafford for a time, moving to Norwich, VT in 1972 where they lived for a dozen years. In 1984 they returned to her home town of Wilder where they have lived since.
Mrs. Smith loved children and enjoyed her work as a daycare provider for many years. She also enjoyed genealogy and crocheting. She will be remembered as someone who was always available to help others in need.
She is predeceased by a son Victor, a brother Larry Twiss and a sister Dianna Moore.
She is survived by her husband of over fifty years of Wilder, her children Deborah Hooker of Enfield, NH, Timothy Smith of Newbury, VT, Gregory Smith of Canaan, NH and Jeffrey Smith of Hartland, VT; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two brothers Francis Twiss of Athens, GA and Dean Twiss of Calhan, CO and five sisters Judy Sears of Wilder, Lucille McCoy of Rutland, Rebecca Melendy of Wilder, Anita Pease of Calhan, CO and Elaine Southard of Syracuse, NY as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT Monday from 6-8PM, a funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Lebanon Tuesday at 10 AM. Committal services will be held later in the Spring in the Union Village Cemetery.
