Canaan, NH – Robert "Joe" Withington, Jr., 74 died Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care in Lebanon, NH.

He was born November 3, 1949, in Lebanon, NH a son of Robert and Nellie May (Sanders) Withington. Bob spent his early years in the Dothan District of Hartford where he attended school, until his family moved to Canaan when he was a teenager. He graduated from Lebanon High School and has been a farmer in Canaan all of his life. For many years Bob had a herd of Registered Holsteins and before becoming ill in the late 1990's he was building a herd of Red and White Holsteins. Bob was a man of simple pleasures who loved connecting with nature. When he wasn't working the fields or milking cows, he enjoyed spending time deer hunting in the fall and sugaring in the spring.

He is survived by his sons, Todd Withington (Magen) of Canaan, Brett Withington (Sherri) of Canaan, and James Withington of Enfield; daughter Cindy Edmiston (Allan) of Enfield; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Krysten, Kearsten, Jillianne, Laura, Cassidey, Nicole, Alex and Brianna, four great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Vella of Florida, brother David Withington of Canaan and several nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by two sisters Carol Withington and Viola May Daniels.

A private graveside service will be held in the Sawyer Hill Cemetery in Canaan at a later date.
