IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert P.
Sullivan
June 2, 1946 – June 1, 2021
Windsor, VT- Robert P. Sullivan, 74, died Monday, June 1, 2021 unexpectedly at his home.
Bob was born June 2, 1946 in Springfield, MA, a son of Paul and Thelma (Murdock) Sullivan. Bob graduated from East Longmeadow High School class of 1964. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served during the Vietnam War as an aircraft structural mechanic. After completing two tours in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged in 1968. Upon his return, Bob took advantage of the GI Bill earning an associates degree from Springfield Technical Community College and attending the University of Massachusetts. During this time, he held several jobs including working at Kaman Aerospace Corporation and Ovation Guitars. He got a start in Dispatching working with St. Johnsbury Trucking Company, and later at J.T.F. Mamm, Stowe Mills, and lastly for United Natural Foods.
Bob was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Elks Clubs, the Harley Owners Group, and the American Motorcycle Association. Bob enjoyed nature, hunting, motorcycles, charity motorcycle rallies, crosswords, and computer games. His greatest joys were spending time with family. He was a talented storyteller with a great sense of humor, and seemed unaware of his charm and charisma. He could be counted on to attend family gatherings at Congamond Lake entertaining family and friends with his vast library of stories. His memory will live on through his family every time they recall one of his many stories, see a deer peek through the end of a clearing, enjoy an extra large bonfire, or hear the rumble of a Harley (aka "The Music").
He is survived by his daughter Katie Sullivan of Hopkinton, MA; his son Kelly Sullivan and wife Monica of Fairfax, CA; two brothers Thomas Sullivan and wife Suzan of Boscawen, NH and Dennis Sullivan and wife Laura of Jefferson, ME; his sister Kathleen Goodale; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the Agawam Center Cemetery in Agawam, MA on Saturday August 21 at 10:00am where Bob will be laid to rest with his mother and father. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Disabled American Veterans ( https://www.dav.org/ways-to-give/ ) or VA Voluntary Service ( https://www.volunteer.va.gov/ ).
