Obituary

WINDSOR, VT
Robert E. "Monk" Turgeon, 82, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Friday evening, January 13 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.
He was born May 1, 1929 in Windsor the son of John B. and Dorothy (Cullum) Turgeon. He received his schooling in Windsor and attended Windsor High School. He was employed at the former Windsor Brass Foundry and had done local construction work. He married Nylene (Hodgdon) Monteith in Windsor on June 28, 1977. He was later employed at Brown's Sales and Service in Windsor for several years. He most recently was employed at Hodgdon Brothers Salvage Yard in Ascutney for many years until his retirement in 1994. Monk enjoyed his pet cat and taking care of stray cats. He was also fond of watching people walking along the street. Mrs. Turgeon passed away on July 6, 2000.
He was also predeceased by his parents, two brothers, John Turgeon and Richard Turgeon, two stepdaughters, Connie Kniffin and Jean Marsh, and one stepson, Kirby Monteith.
Survivors include one sister, Claire Kilfeather and her husband, Peter of Hartland, one brother, Philip Turgeon and his wife, Ruth of Windsor, one sister in law, Eileen Turgeon of Windsor, one stepdaughter, Beth Quimby and her husband, Roy of Windsor, one stepson, Dana Monteith and his wife Renee of Windsor, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, January 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Raphael Nyabenda, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at the St. Francis Church Fellowship Hall. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
