WINDSOR, VT
Robert S. Maheu, Sr., 84, formerly of Windsor, passed away Sunday, January 24 at the West Volusia Care Center in Orange City, Florida.
He was born May 23, 1925 in Corwall, Vermont the son of Harold and Stella Maheu.
He married Mildred Smyth in November of 1947. He was employed as a machinist at Bryant Grinders in Springfield for many years, until his retirement.
He was a longtime and active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor where he was a Third Degree member of the Knight's of Columbus, Father Fontaine Council #2832. He was a member of American Legion Post # 26 in White River Jct., VT and of the Vermont Club in Florida.
He has spent winter months in Paisley, Florida for several years.
He was predeceased by his wife on September 7, 1990.
Survivors include, three sons, Robert S. Maheu, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Ascutney, VT, Philip Maheu of Croydon, NH and Ernest Maheu and his wife Cindy of Coventry, RI, one daughter, Roberta Spurr of Lake Helen, FL, one brother, Herbert Maheu of Wilder, VT, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Thursday evening, January 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 29 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Rene Butler, M.S., Pastor, will be the celebrant. Committal services will be held in the spring in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Windsor.
