West Windsor, Vermont- Robert L. Loyd, 77, died Tuesday October 15, 2019 at his home in Brownsville, VT. Bob was born June 8, 1942 in Forest Hills, NY, son to Robert Coppinger and Ethel "Jane" Whitney. He spent several years growing up on a farm with his brother Bill. They both served in the US Navy and Bob did many years of service in the US Army Reserves. Bob studied agriculture and business and received a degree in English literature at Queens City College. He worked for Air France Airlines for 43 years, primarily as a Cargo Instructor teaching courses in hazardous materials/dangerous goods. Bob was married to Diane Faucher Loyd who passed away in 2008. Bob and Di lived on Long Island for many years before making their Brownsville home a permanent home in 2008. Bob and Diane loved motorcycles, specifically, Harley-Davidson. Before retiring and moving up to VT full-time, Bob and Di rode together and with friends and participated in charitable events such as HOG ("Harley Ownership Group") toy runs. Bob donated to charity and regularly served as a volunteer in the Emergency Room of Ascutney General Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion Post #25 in West Windsor and participated in the Annual Brownsville 4th of July parade on behalf of US Veterans.
He is survived by his three children, Jennifer Loyd, Brett Loyd and Bill Loyd and his grandson, Aiden Loyd.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, October 27th, from 1-2PM at the Knight Funeral Home inWindsor, VT. A funeral service will be held at 2PMat the funeral home immediately following the visiting hours. Condolences may be made at an online guest book at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
