Claremont, NH – Robert A. Konkle passed away January 27, 2015 at the age of 71 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT. Robert was born February 24, 1943 in Rimersburg, PA, a son of Donald and Elsie (Summerville) Konkle. Robert grew up in St. Petersburg, PA before serving in the US Navy from 1961 until 1969. He was married to Janet Lombardi in 1965. After his discharge from the Navy he earned his Bachelor's Degree from Clarion University before beginning his career as an engineer in the defense industry. Together Robert and Janet lived briefly in Virginia before moving to Rhode Island, where they spent many years raising their family. Later, they moved to Tucson, AZ, where they lived for fifteen years, recently returning to the east coast to be closer to family, settling in Claremont, NH two years ago.
Robert leaves his wife, Janet, of Claremont, a son David Konkle of Canton, MA; two daughters Dianne Detwiler of Idaho Falls, ID and Sarah George of Meriden, NH; grandchildren Susan Demers, Elizabeth Detwiler, Ian George and Ava George; a brother James Konkle of St. Petersburg, PA and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Connie Horner.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society
