White River Junction – Robert Ronald Holmes, 63, died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, unexpectedly at his home.
Rob was born April 4, 1962, in Ludlow, MA, the son of Clarence and Gloria (Brunelle) Holmes. He graduated from Trade High School in Springfield, MA, in 1980. After high school, Rob worked at Petco in Springfield before joining the U.S. Army in 1984. He later transferred to the Army National Guard, where he was stationed at the Springfield Armory, first in the Infantry and later in Food Service. Rob retired from the Army National Guard in 2010 after twenty-six years of service.
He moved to White River Junction in June of 2015 to work at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he remained a dedicated employee.
Rob enjoyed his work and was a valued member of the community. He volunteered with many area service organizations and supported local political efforts. He genuinely loved giving back and serving others.
He is survived by two brothers, Richard Holmes of Derby Line, VT, and Donald Holmes of Springfield, MA; two sisters, Deborah Pelletier of Monson, MA, and Susan Kowarsky of Springfield, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction is assisting with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
