Robert G. French

Quechee, VT - Robert G. French, 77, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH.

Bob was born October 8, 1932 in Holyoke, MA the only child of Kenneth and Lillian (Reimer) French. He lived in Quechee almost all of his life. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1950. He served in the US Army from 1953- 1955 spending 16 months in Korea. He was married to Nancy Bond of Norwich on September 15, 1956 in Hanover, NH. He was a carpenter all of his life he worked on the interstate highway system, many local commercial buildings including the old Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and many buildings at Dartmouth College. He last worked for Trumbull Nelson Construction Company in Hanover for 5 years retiring in 1997.

He was a life member of Local 1996 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, the National Rifle Association, the Harford Lodge 1541 B.P.O.E., and Lyman F. Pell Post No. 8 American Legion in Norwich, member of the Vermont Trappers Association and the National Trappers Association, past member of the Hartland Hill Hoppers Snowmobile Club, and Vermont Association of Snow Travelers. He was a devoted Husband, father and grandfather and his greatest joy was his grandson Kenneth. He loved hunting, snowmobiling and the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife, a son Kevin and his wife Cheryl and a grandson Kenneth all of Quechee, a brother-in-law Donald of Cobleskill, NY an aunt and cousins.

Friend may call Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT from 6:30 – 8:00 PM. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, VT.
