Robert L. Forest
White River Jct., VT – Robert L. Forest, 81, died Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH.
He was born January 30, 1931 in Pomfret, VT where he grew up and attended school. Bob entered the US Army in 1948, serving in Germany during the Berlin Crisis until his honorable discharge in 1952. When he returned from the Army, Bob operated a dairy farm in Vershire for several years before working as a machinist at the US Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, NH. Upon retiring from CRREL, he worked for a time as a currier for Berkshire Armored Car and until very recently has had a daily route delivering the Rutland Herald.
Bob was passionate about his draft horses and loved pulling at area fairs during the summer. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid skier, working the Ski Patrol at Storrs Hill Ski Area in Lebanon, NH for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Anna (Longley) Forest of White River Jct.; two step sons Terry Gray of Bradford, VT and Greg Gray of White River Jct. five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 15 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT from 3-4PM, immediately followed by funeral services at 4PM.
