IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Sang
Chang
February 16, 1938 – August 24, 2023
Brownsville, VT - Robert Sang Chang of Brownsville, Vermont passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife Joyce by his side on August 24, 2023, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on February 16, 1938, in Frankfield, Jamaica, to William and Ivy Chang.
Robert was raised in Jamaica, West Indies with his six siblings and where his family owned the main shop in the town of Frankfield. After finishing Clarendon College Robert later moved to New York City where he acquired his associate degree in electronics. He eventually returned to Jamaica where he met and married Joyce. They moved to Brownsville, VT in 1977, where he came to love the verdant green hills and calm. Robert later opened his own electronics sales and repair business in Windsor, VT along with the first video rental in the area. He was extremely hard working and took pride in his work. Six days a week you would see Robert opening his business, never missing a day. Jamaica remained close to his heart, where he spent time during his healthy years in Treasure Beach enjoying the ocean and family.
Robert loved to run and keep fit. He would often be seen running the country dirt roads of Brownsville even on the coldest days of winter. If he wasn't running, he could be found lifting weights in his home gym in the basement.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joyce Chang; six children Tracy Curry (Joseph), Justin Chang, Christine Pustay-Chang (Fred), Jacqueline Chang (José), Richard Chang, and Kirk Chang; three stepchildren Laura, Webb, and Bart Savidge (Sally); sisters Effie and Olga and brothers Clancy, Bill, and Fen; many grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Robert was predeceased in death by his father William Chang, mother Ivy Chang, and his brother Ernest.
A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Sheddsville Cemetery.
