Robert C. Anderson, 83, of Springfield, Vermont, died on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Loving husband of Marylin J. (Hitchcock) Anderson for over 42 years, he was born on February 11, 1943, in Hartford, CT, son of Sterling E. Anderson and Barbara E. Wilkins.

Robert worked for The Public Works for the City of Hartford then transferred to the City of Hartford Fire Department where he worked for many years. Upon retiring as a Captain from the Fire Department, Robert fulfilled his lifelong dream of moving to Vermont, the state where many of his relatives lived and where he made many cherished memories in his childhood. He loved “the farm” and spoke passionately about the wildlife, the joy of the wide-open space, and riding his motorcycle. The pond he built has been utilized by the Springfield Vermont Fire Department for water rescue training. A special thank you to them for all their help throughout the last few years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother Richard.

He is survived by his wife, Marylin J. Anderson of Springfield, and three daughters: Cathy Anderson, Robin Anderson, and Tracy Obremski (Rob); with 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a brother-in-law Robert V. Hitchcock, and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside service for Bob will be held in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor on Friday June 19th at 2PM.
