Enfield, NH – Robert "Bob" A. Nicodemus, 74, of Enfield died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the White River Junction VA. Born on July 3, 1948, he was adopted by Henry C. and Sarah M. (Stedman) Nicodemus and spent his childhood and young adulthood in Newark, OH. Bob dedicated his career and volunteer life to service, starting as a medic in the Army and continuing as a civilian firefighter for the Air Force in Ohio. Bob had a passion for selling motorcycles and snowmobiles at Keltons. While serving as a firefighter, he pursued education to be an advanced EMT professional. He was a founding member of the Sharon Rescue Squad and volunteer with the Sharon Fire Department, where his efforts at disaster preparedness helped his community through a major train derailment. Bob met Aura-Lee when they became ambulance partners at the VA and the two were married in 1998. Upon his retirement from the VA, he coordinated a fleet of volunteer vans and drivers to assist Veterans' needs for transport to medical appointments across New England as the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Hospital Service Coordinator. He was the DAV past state commander and the Third District National Executive Committeeperson, a life member of DAV in VT, NH, ME, and RI, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of VT, and a member of the NH American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Aura-Lee Nicodemus of Enfield; six children Charles (Kimberly), Ronald (Alyssa), and Robert Nicodemus, Sarah Merseal (Keith), and Robin and Cindy Nicodemus; three step-children who he thought of as his own Mark (Megan), Shannon (Josh), and Harley (Sierra) Crandall; many additional children who he provided a safe home and haven to whenever they needed one; his sister Linda; many grandchildren and nieces who he adored; several grand-dogs; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepfather, Charles C. Cooprider.
A service with military honors for Bob will be held on July 3, 2023, at 1pm in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel. He lived a life of selfless service to veterans, their family members, and his community, in his memory please make a donation to the DAV of VT, PO Box 828, White River Junction, VT 05001 or perform a kind deed for a veteran or someone in need.
