Obituary

Quechee, VT- Rita E. Mace, 90, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at home.

Rita was born November 7, 1930 in Wilder, VT a daughter of Edward and Doris (Bushey) Bebeau. She graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1948 and was married to Gordon Mace in 1949 in White River Junction. They made their home in Wilder and she kept the books for the family contracting business. In 1962 they made the move to the Center of Town where they lived until moving in 1985 to Tall Timbers in Quechee.  She worked at the Sweater Store for a time, and later at the Cabot Creamery both in Quechee until she retired in her eighties, because she did not want to retire too young.

Rita was a very talented knitter and sold her sweaters at the Timber Village Craft Shop. She loved her cat, Minnie, and dog, Rocko.

Rita is predeceased by a sister Lucille Butler and two brothers Edward Bebeau, Jr and Richard Bebeau.

She is survived by a daughter Debra Devins and her husband Michael of Quechee; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Bebeau of Wilder; two sisters, Dottie Langley of Lebanon, NH and Joyce Napolitano of Whitehouse, TX.

A private graveside service will be held in the Christian Street Cemetery in Wilder at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
