South Strafford VT – Rick Charles St. Peter, 68, passed away at home with his wife, Shirley, by his side on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Rick was born on August 19, 1954, in Carthage, NY, a son of Joseph Maitland and Gloria (Weaver) St. Peter. His family moved to White River Junction, VT, as a young boy. Rick graduated from Hartford High School in the class of 1972. He married Shirley Gillen in 1973. They began a family with the birth of their son, Boe Charles St. Peter, and moved to South Strafford, VT where they have lived since 1976.

Rick was an avid hunter and fisherman. He particularly enjoyed the Father's Day Fishing Derby on Lake Champlain with his good friends, Doug Cook and David Ashe. Every fall, he looked forward to spending time with his son, Boe, and close friends, Jeff Utton and Donny Mitchell, at the cabin in Maine to hunt whitetail. Most of all, Rick loved spending time with his son's family and seeing his grandchildren, Caelin and Elle, grow up on summer trips fishing at the lake or trips out to Arizona.

He began his career in the parts department with Gateway Motors in White River Junction. He later worked at Gerrish Motors and Guillemette Motors, finally retiring as a manager from K&W Tire in Montpelier. After retiring, Rick began working as a carpenter with his friend, Denny Preston, before starting his own business, Maple Leaf Construction. Rick ran his business until his health no longer allowed.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Michael and Mark St. Peter, and his nephew, Wayne Oreshack.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Shirley St. Peter; son, Boe, and daughter-in-law, Amy St. Peter, and their children, Caelin and Elle of Peoria, AZ; sister, Cheryl Oreshack of Fuquay-Verina, NC; sister-in-law, Donna St Peter of Wilder, VT; and nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, July 30th, 2023 at Barrett Hall in South Strafford, VT from 12-4PM. Condolences to Rick's family may be made in an online guestbook at knightfuneralhomes.com.
