Richard Kelly Young, 66, died Saturday June 11, 2022, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH following a battle with stage four cancer.

Kelly was born January 17, 1956, in Burlington, VT a son of Raymond and Flora (Rogers) Young. He grew up in Windsor, graduating from Windsor High School Class of 1975. Kelly enlisted in the US Navy immediately following high school, serving four years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1979. He returned to Windsor where he continued serving, this time as a firefighter and EMT for the Windsor Fire Department. Kelly loved his job and often worked extra shifts and holidays. He was married to Jackie Varney in 1986 in Hartland and they made their home in Windsor where they raised their two sons. After over forty years of service to the community, Lieutenant Young retired in 2021 with dreams of following his other passion of fishing, only to discover his lower back pain was stage four cancer.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Jackie, of Windsor and two sons, Matthew of Hartland, and Michael of Windsor.

Visiting hours will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Friday, June 17 ^th from 4-7PM. Burial will be at a later date in the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
