North Hartland, VT – Richard Philo Withington, 83, died Wednesday July 17, 2019 at home in North Hartland, VT.

He was born May 7, 1936 in Hanover, NH a son of Philo and Vivian (White) Withington.  Richard grew up on the Green Acres Farm in North Hartland and graduated from Hartford High School before serving in the Army.  After his honorable discharge he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers at the North Hartland Dam in construction and carpentry.  He later worked for many years as a carpenter for AW Frizzell in Woodstock, VT.

Richard loved animals and enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting and fishing when he was younger and more recently was close to the family dog, Charlotte.

He leaves a son Jeffrey Withington and his partner, Kelly Beebee of North Hartland who cared for him during his illness, at home, over the past several months.  He also leaves a sister Janice Nadeau of Quechee and a brother Merle "Sam" Withington.  He was predeceased by a sister Ruth Shumway.
