Quechee, Vermont - Richard William Vahey, 63 died Monday, March 19, 2018 at his home in Quechee, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born December 26, 1954 in Natick, MA, a son of William and Mary (Gassett). He grew up in and attended the Milford and Uxbridge schools. He was a jack of all trades and worked as a handyman and other jobs throughout the years. Richard moved to Quechee in 2004 to be closer to his brother and to help out with the property.

Richard loved to work with his hands and would go to the scrap yard and pick up bicycles to rehab and give away. He enjoyed gardening and building stone walls. One of his greatest joys was drawing and was very accomplished at it. He was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead and truly enjoyed their music.

Richard is survived by his beloved companion Rose Yanski; a brother Robert Vahey both of Quechee; three sisters Mary Ann Dudley of Uxbridge, MA, Robena McMahon of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Donna Vahey of Milford, MA; and several nieces and nephews.
