Richard "Ricky" Michael Sweet, 67, died May 1, 2024, at Hanover Terrace in Hanover, NH where he has been a resident for the past several years.

He was born October 26, 1956, to Neil Sweet Sr. and Vena (Besaw) Sweet. Rick grew up in Hartland and attended school in North Hartland where he had the same teacher as his sister and brothers, Mrs. Helen Currier. He worked for a time at the Hartford landfill and later operated a salvage yard in Hartland for many years. Rick was well known around the Upper Valley. He loved trucks of all kinds and, like his dad, enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years. Like his mother he loved animals, especially cats.

Rick's family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Hanover Terrace, and at the Vermont Office of Public Guardian for helping them care for Rick.

Ricky was predeceased by his parents; niece, Angela Sweet as well as his grandparents Clyde and Lucella Boutwell and Delos and Ruby Besaw.

He is survived by his siblings and their families, Neil Sweet (Barbara) of Dalton, NH, Bruce Sweet (Cheryl) of Ocala, FL, Linda French of Hartland, and Gary Sweet (Lisa) of Windsor, VT; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be in the New Overlook Cemetery in East Concord, VT at the convenience of the family.
