Richard W. Shattuck
Claremont, NH – Richard W. Shattuck, 81, died at the Veteran's Affair Medical Center in White River Jct., VT Friday July 17, 2015.
He was born May 22, 1934 in Quechee, VT a son of Roy and Marjorie (Companion) Shattuck. Dick attended school in Quechee and later served in Alaska with the US Air Force during the Korean War, from 1952 until 1956. He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves for another four years after his honorable discharge from active duty.
Mr. Shattuck was married to Judy Davis June 12, 1965 in Quechee, VT. They made their home in Enfield, NH for over forty five years until moving to Claremont five years ago to be nearer to their daughter and grandson.
After returning from his military duty he began working as a mechanic for Charlie Kelton on Taft Flat in White River Jct. When Kelton Motors moved to Hartford, Dick began working in parts and continued on there until they closed around 1990. After Keltons He worked at Brake and Electric for a time, later at Sabil & Sons in White River Jct. and then at Freightliner in Lebanon until retiring.
Dick was a past member of the Lebanon Elks as well as the Twinstate Squares. More recently he has enjoyed volunteering at the VA hospital in White River Jct.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roy Shattuck and Marjorie Greene, a brother Roy Shattuck and three sisters Joyce Bennett, Shirley Windsor and Phyllis Labine.
He leaves his wife, Judy, a daughter Melissa Pearce, her husband Chris and a grandson Wyatt all of Claremont, NH; a sister Janice Stone of Lebanon; two half sisters Dottie Shattuck-Kingsbury of White River Jct., VT and Susan Nichols of Newfane, VT; a half brother Carl Shattuck of Newport, NH and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday July 21st from 1-3PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. with a funeral service following at 3PM.
