White River Junction, VT - Richard G. Poulton, 89 died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction.
Richard was born January 15, 1922 the son of George and Daisy (Evans) Poulton. He graduated from high school in Saint Lambert, QB. Richard joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served during WWII. On July 21, 1945 he was married to Marguerite P. Delaney in Halifax, NS. They lived in Montreal where he worked for the Canadian National Railways. In 1951 they moved to Bennington, VT to work for the Boston and Maine Railroad as a Yard Master. Following the tracks north they settled in White River Junction where Richard and Marguerite raised their family together and spent many happy years. In April of 1992 Marguerite died. He used this time alone to spend with his children. In April of 1995 he was married to Laura Santos in White River Junction they moved to her home in Enfield, NH. Were they spent eleven wonderful years together. Laura died August of 2006 and he moved to live with his daughter in West Fairlee.
Richard was an active member of the Twin State Squares in his younger years. He had a passion for the sea that he was able to share with his wife Laura on the many sailing trips they took together. They also loved to spend time in the outdoors hiking a taking in the scenery.
Richard is predeceased by his two brothers, Harry Poulton and Frank Poulton.
Richard is survived by a daughter Marilyn E. Couture-Dresser and husband Douglas Dresser of West Fairlee; a son Gregory R. Poulton and wife Darlene of Grantham; two grandchildren Sehan Poultin and Bryrony Poulton; a great-granddaughter Audrey Henault; and a sister Grace Saddler of St. Lambert, QB.
Friends may call Saturday, June 11, 2011 from 10-11AM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11AM. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
