Hartford, VT – Richard Paul Perkins, 72, died unexpectedly on Monday June 8, 2026, at home in Hartford, VT.

He was born in Lebanon, NH a son of Orville and Rosalba (Ashley) Perkins. Richard spent his early years in Plainfield where he attended school. He was a hard worker, and despite never having a driver’s license, he figured out how to get to his job on time most every day, either on his bike or using public transportation. He worked at Twin State Fruit in White River Jct. for a time before working for area restaurants including Fort Lou’s in Lebanon and Molly’s Balloon in Hanover. He later worked at Kohl’s Department Store in Lebanon for 13 years before retiring.

Richard was very outgoing and made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed helping others however he could including volunteering on community dinners and the local food shelf. He also enjoyed barbequing with family and friends but most of all he loved karaoke. Richard knew every karaoke night in the Upper Valley and will be remembered by many for his endearing renditions of Burning Ring of Fire and Red Solo Cup.

Richard was predeceased by his father, Orville Perkins, Sr; mother, Rosalba Pekins; stepmother, Rose Marie Perkins; brothers, Orville Perkins, Jr, Donald Perkins, and Arthur Perkins.

He leaves his wife Bonnie Jo (Rogers) Perkins of Hartford, VT and brothers, David Perkins of Florida, Steven Perkins of Charlestown, NH, and Michael Perkins of White River Jct. as well as several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Plainfield Cemetery with his family at a later date.
