Ascutney, VT- Richard Wayne Olson, 80, died unexpectedly on Wednesday May 29, 2024, in Weathersfield, VT. He was born on August 21, 1943, and grew up in Windsor, VT.  He met his wife of the last 59 years, Phyllis, when he was stationed at Offutt Air Force base in Omaha, NE. They moved to Vermont after marrying in 1965 where they raised 3 children.  Richard worked transportation in the military and continued in that field when he returned to civilian life in 1966 working as a short haul truck driver for local companies: Idlenot dairy, R.E. Hinkley and Airgas, over his long career.

Family was important to Richard, he was an excellent provider, working hard to support his family yet still made time for family vacations traveling throughout the US.  After retirement, he was happiest at home with his dog by his side, bird watching, and enjoying the views from the home he and his wife built together through the years.

Dick is survived by his wife Phyllis J. Olson of Ascutney; three children, son Richard W. Olson, II and wife Lisa of Hudson, NH, son David Olson of Claremont, NH and daughter Barbara Ware and husband Chris of Charleston, SC; two siblings, Lee Pudvah of Ascutney and Sharon Davis of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren Michael, Jordan, Evan, Ethan, Amanda (Kiel), Johnny (Colleen), and Hayley; one great grandchild Kendall; his Shetland Sheepdog Lady; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Evelyn Pudvah and brother Gary Pudvah. A private committal service will be held.
