Richard Paul McCarthy
West Fairlee, VT – Richard Paul McCarthy, 54 died unexpectedly at home in West Fairlee on Thursday October 24, 2012.
He was born August 24, 1958 in Hanover, NH a son of Robert E. McCarthy Sr. and Pauline (Romano) McCarthy. Dick grew up in White River Jct. and attended Hartford schools. After high school he lived in Mammouth, CA for a time where he worked as a chef in area resorts. When he returned to the Upper Valley he continued his career in cooking at local restaurants including the Bum Steer, Sevi's and The Point Restaurant. He then worked for several years at Dartmouth Printing in Hanover before beginning work at Dartmouth College where he has been employed for the past decade. While at Dartmouth he spent several years working in library services.
Dick was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs
He was predeceased by his father in 2004 and is survived by his mother of White River Jct. He also leaves his brother, Robert E. McCarthy Jr. and his wife Cindy of Lebanon, NH, two nephews, Patrick McCarthy and his wife Merideth of Lebanon and Ryan McCarthy and his wife Rebecca of Merrimack, NH as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held Monday October 29th from 5-7PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday October 30th at 12 noon at St. Anthony Church also in White River Jct. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
