Obituary

Richard P. Levy, M.D., of Quechee, Vermont, died Thursday, January 19, 2012.
Born in Woodmere, New York, Dr. Levy was the son of the late Edward I. and Elma (Nathan) Levy. He was predeceased by his sister, Helene Levy (Mrs. Ernest Bloomenthal), and his brother, Walter Levy.
Dr. Levy was graduated from Woodmere Academy in New York. He held a B.S. from Yale College and an M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine. He served as a medical officer in the United States Navy.
Dr. Levy completed his residency training in Internal Medicine, as well as his training in Endocrinology, at Case Western Reserve University, where he became Associate Professor of Medicine.
Later he was the head of the residency program in Internal Medicine at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, and Professor of Medicine there.
From 2001 to 2005, he was Visiting Professor of Medicine and Instructor in Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School.
His marriage to the former Barbara Renee Quint ended in divorce.
He leaves his three children and their spouses: Donald and his wife Eileen, of Hamden, Connecticut; Ellen Raper and her husband, David Raper, of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina, and Dr. Charles Levy and his wife Alexis, of Gainesville, Florida; and his grandchildren: Lt. Carolyn Mora, U.S.N., and her husband, Dr. Adrian Mora, of Norfolk, Virginia; Lt. Stephen DeVries, U.S.M.C., and his wife, Phoebe, of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Michala Levy, of Gainesville, Florida, and Eliza Levy, of Gainesville, Florida. Knight Funeral in White River Junction, VT has been entrusted with arrangements. Arrangements for interment and a private memorial service are pending.
