IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Philip
Krzal
August 1, 1948 – August 11, 2022
Richard Philip Krzal, 74, died August 11, 2022, at home with his wife and dogs close by to help him go to the rainbow bridge.
He was born August 1, 1948, in Dunkirk, NY, the first son of Meceslaus and Hildagard (Dillenburg) Krzal. Rich grew up in Sheridan, NY and was married to Melissa Marshall Warren in Oneida, NY on February 14, 1970. This also being his wife's birthday, he would comment it was impossible to forget their anniversary, Valentine's Day, and her birthday. Rich and Missy had two children, Kelly Shayne and Karin Suzanne.
Rich went to SUNY Morrisville, NY and earned a degree in Wood Technology. He used this degree when he worked at Reisen-Seidel in Union, NJ and the dry kilns in North Hartland, VT and Hardwick, MA. In the late 1980s, he had a career change and started working for the US Postal Service Processing & Mail Distribution Center in White River Junction.
Rich had a love of collecting antique levels of all sorts; he had plumb bobs, inclinometers, dumpy levels, and advertising levels. His handle on his email was onthelevelman. He also had side collections of owls and whatever struck his fancy at any given time.
The love of gardening and planting was always with him since he grew up on a small truck farm. He planted about a third of an acre of blueberries which he found pleasure in trimming and fertilizing. At first, he had to pick the berries to sell them but as time went on and word of mouth spread about his patch it became strictly pick your own.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, David Atzrott.
He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Missy of Thetford; children, Kelly Shayne (Dennis Malloch), their children, Adrienne and Mikey of Ballston Lake, NY, and Karin Suzanne of Wilder, VT; sister, Linda Krzal and brother, Ronald Krzal (Sharon) of Sheridan, sisters Carol Krzal and Cindy Atzrott of West Seneca; sister-in-law, Melanie Warren (Andy) Lopitz and their children, Amanda (Bart) Sgroi and Drew (Irma) of Canastota, NY; nephew, Ronald Krzal (Sarah) and their son, Matthew of Fredonia; niece, Jackie Krzal (Jeff) of Buffalo, New York; and many cousins.
Visiting Hours will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, August 17th, at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9AM on Thursday, August 18 th at St. Denis Church in Hanover, NH.
