Richard Blake Hackett, age 60, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, Blake lived most of his life in the Upper Valley of Vermont but also spent many years in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Blake was born on July 20th, 1949, the third child of five of Kieran and Lucille Hackett. He graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1966. After receiving training to be a licensed nurse in the U.S. Army, Blake went on to work for the Veterans Association, Brookside Nursing Home, and Temporary Nurses, Inc. Blake also worked for the Log House Building Company and Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Company and continued to support their mission statement for many years.
His hobbies included craftsmanship, woodworking, sailing, literature, collection of decorative prints and natural sculpture. He enjoyed spending time walking and biking outdoors.
He is survived by his three children. First born Logan Hackett and second born Casey Hackett from marriage to Kerry Kemnitzer in October of 1977, and third born Emily Hackett from marriage to Martina Livoncova in July 2000. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kieran J. Hackett III. Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT assisted with the arrangements.
The family asks that all donations be in the form of flowers delivered to the Memorial Service (c/o Logan and Casey Hackett) to be held at the Little Stone Theatre, 54 River Street, Woodstock, VT 05091 between 1 and 4:30 pm on January 9th, 2010.'
