Obituary

Richard D. Greenwood, 81 of White River Jct., VT passed away peacefully at his home with his life partner, Elaine Crowley, at his side. Cremation is being provided by Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT.
He is survived by Elaine Crowley life partner of 36 years, stepsons, Daniel Landers of Bow, NH, John Braddock of Manchester, NH, a daughter, Beth Lourie of Lebanon, NH, a stepson, Richard Vahey and his wife Rose of White River Jct., VT, He was the son of the late George J. Greenwood and the late Eva Boyd. He leaves brothers, Alfred M. Greenwood of Dover, George J. Greenwood Jr. of Abbington, MA, his siter, Dorothy MacFarland of Exeter, NH and was predeceased by a brother Robert A. Greenwood of Belmont, NH. In addition, Dick's caretakers, Jodi and William Mohn and Holly White of White River Jct., VT remain dear to his heart for their loyal and loving care. Dick was very close to Jodi and Will's children, Sonya Lee and Darren….Norma Tuttle, a neighbor, was a faithful friend and helper to Dick.

Dick was always proud to say his late cousin, Rene Gagnon helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima. Dick was also a Marine as well as his three brothers. Dick proudly served in the Korean War.

Dick was a member of the Marine Corps League Twin State Det NH NGDIV; lifetime Member of DAV, Member of Guyer Carrigan American Legion, Post 22, in Lebanon, NH. He was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church.

Dick was a lobster fisherman in Maine; a gold panner in Maine; a mechanic in Boston. He also had a take-out fish shack restaurant at Hampton Beach, NH and managed the Casino Bingo Hall lunch counter. He also did temporary tattooing at Ft. Myers Beach, FL in the winter and often at Waterville Valley, NH in the Spring and Summer for many years.

Services will be held Saturday September 14, 2013 at 11AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, White River Jct., VT followed by a luncheon reception.
