White River Jct.- Richard R. (Dickie) Roberts, 66, of White River Jct., VT, went home to be with the Lord on Friday January 20, 2012, after a long illness. Dickie always remained strong and courageous throughout the years despite his illness. Born in Leominster, MA on October 14, 1945, he was the son of the late Richard B. Roberts of Wilder, VT and the late Dora (Norris) Woods of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Dickie attended schools in Walpole, NH, Marlboro, MA, and Leominster, MA. His passion was his work at several Victory Super Markets as Meat Department Manager in the state of MA. After moving to Florida he continued to enjoy bowling, boating, golf and his art work.
He was a veteran of the National Guard in MA during the Vietnam Era.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Mary Jane, of Leominster, MA, who died in 2004, and his son Richard R. Roberts, Jr. of Pensicola, FL, who died in 2003.
His survivors are brothers, David G Roberts and Patricia of Charleston, SC, Daniel R. Roberts and Jennifer Foster of Bonita Springs, FL, and Samuel B. Roberts and Ann-Marie of West Lebanon, NH. Sisters, G.J. Robin Nelson and Bruce of Medway, MA, June L Roberts and Dana Sappier of Crossville, TN, Amelia Rose Burgess and Robert of Wolfboro, NH, Beth L Haszard and Timothy of Newport, TN, Jennie M. Cutter and Richard of Thornton, NH, two grandchildren, Jessica and Brandon of Leominster, MA, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his dear and caring friend Joseph Boucher of White River Jct., VT, who was like family to him.
Interment will be at the Christian Street Cemetery, Wilder, VT. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
