Real L. Fournier

Hartford, VT – Real L. Fournier, 77, died Sunday May 21, 2017 at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH with his loving wife by his side, following a long battle with cancer.

He was born May 24, 1939 in East Hereford, Quebec a son of Alcée and Florida (Gagne) Fournier. The family moved to the United States when Real was a year old, settling first in North Umberland, NH and later in Haverhill. Real attended school in Haverhill, where he worked on the family farm until moving to White River Junction. He was married to Wendalene Olmstead September 17, 1960 at St. Anthony's church in White River Jct., VT and they have made their home in Hartford since. Real was proud to obtain his US citizenship June 9, 1969.

He began his career as a typewriter technician at Greydon Freeman in White River Jct., VT in 1964 after teaching himself to repair typewriters. He later attended several schools to further his knowledge. He worked at Greydon Freeman for 15 years, then at A&S Office Concepts for several years before starting at Twinstate Typewriter where he worked until retiring in 2006. After retiring he continued to repair typewriters part time as well as working every Thursday at the Connecticut Valley Auto Auction.

Real enjoyed spending time with his family, especially camping. They kept their fifth wheel RV at Able Mountain Campground in Randolph for 17 years. He was an avid fan at all of his grandchildren's sporting events, logging countless miles to attend their games around the state. He was also an active member of the Hartford B.P.O.Elks Lodge 1541 where he ran the BINGO program for many years and received the honor of being named Elk of the year.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Larry, Gerry, Jim, Don and Conrad Fournier and four sisters Simone Cotter, Gisele Hood, Monique Willey and an infant sister Stella.

He leaves his wife of over 56 years, Wendy, of Hartford; daughters Rhonda Mabey and her husband Tom of Hartford, Raelyn Bergeron of Quechee and Dawna Nadeau and her husband Peter of Sharon; grandchildren, Mandi, Brittany, Brandon, Brianna, Trever and Troy; great grandsons Bryce and Blake; brothers, Fernand of Syracuse, NY, Raoul of Littleton, NH, Bruno of Pike, NH and Richard of Monroe, NH; sisters Blendine Dube of Florida and Carmen Patterson of NY as well as 72 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. on Thursday May 25th from 11:30 to 1:30 with a funeral service following at 1:30 with Fr. Charles Danielson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery also in White River Jct.
