Sharon, VT-

Raymond L. Withington, 90, died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. He was born December 5, 1923 in Hanover, NH the son of Earl and Evelyn (Miles) Withington. He attended grammar school in Corinth, VT and graduated from the Bradford Academy class of 1941. He went to work at Cone Automatic in Windsor as a machinist for a year before joining the US Marine Corps, where he served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Upon being honorably discharged he returned to Hartland and Cone Automatic. He was married to Marion Stack on March 6, 1946. on June 1 1984 he retired after 42 ½ years with Cone. Marion died March 11, 1987. He was married to Lorraine (Clark) Russell June 24, 1990 they moved to South Royalton and in May of 2001 to Sharon, VT where they have lived since.

Ray was a member of the American Legion Post #48, Hartland, VT, Veterans of Foreign War #2571, White River Jct., VT, Third Marine Division Association, the Twin State Marine Corps League, Lebanon, NH and a member of the Minerva Lodge #86 F. &A.M. Corinth, VT

He is predeceased by a step-son Mark Russell.

He is survived by his beloved wife Lorraine Withington of Sharon; son Raymond M. Withington and wife Carol of Harland, VT; daughter Mary Grela and husband Peter of Windsor, VT; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchild; Step-son, Scott H. Russell of Tunbridge and three step-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hartland Village Cemetery at a later date.
