WEATHERSFIELD, VT
Raymond H. Vashaw, 72, of Weathersfield, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 16, 2017.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he loved taking his daughters and grandkids out on the four wheeler for rides or to look for tracks. He loved spending time with family. He enjoyed having the family over for cookouts, going yard saling altogether, and going to the fairs. He enjoyed his family dinners out with his wife and sisters and their families. He loved his wood business and his customers and friends. He enjoyed antiques and going to auctions. He made many trips to Georgia through the years with family and friends, he had many yearly traditions such as going up to Berlin every Memorial weekend, apple picking in the fall, going to the shrine and seeing all the lights around Christmas time.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Vashaw of Weathersfield, one son, Kirk Ovitt of Minnesota, two daughters, Kathryn Ovitt-Farr of Windsor and Cynthia Ovitt, also of Windsor, eight loving sisters and their husbands, Pauline and Charles Farris of Charlestown, Ann Roy of Newport, Louise and Jerry Biron of Florida, Barbara and Paul LaFrance of Newbury, Carolyn and David Ackerman Sr. of Newport, Cathy and Howie Sampson of Goshen, Maryann Cummings of Goshen, Tammy and Michael Lapine of Goshen, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Annie and Harry Vashaw, one sister, Elizabeth Cholette, and three brothers, Harry Jr., Henry, and Dennis Vashaw.
A Celebration of Raymond's life for family and friends will be held Sunday, September 24 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Martin Memorial Hall in Ascutney.
In lieu of flowers Raymond would like donations made to HCRS at 390 River St. Springfield, VT 05156 for his grandson to help raise awareness and provide support for those battling with Complex P.T.S.D and other disabilities.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.
