Post Mills, VT – Raymond B. “Red” Stone, 91, died unexpectedly at The Village in White River Junction on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

He was born April 6, 1935, in White River Jct., VT a son of Raymond A. and Merle K. (Brigham) Stone. Red graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1954 before serving in the US Navy. He served as a radar technician around the Pacific including aboard the USS Perkins. He returned home from the Navy in 1958 and continued his work at Ward Baking Company in White River Jct. where he worked his way from route salesman to manager until the company closed in 1980. He then began working at JJ Nissen in West Lebanon until retiring in 1995.

Red was married to Gloria Lewis in 1957, and they lived in Wilder, where they raised their family before moving to Hartland in the mid 80’s. After Gloria’s untimely death in 1996, Red married Nancy Martin Hill in 1999, and they resided in Post Mills until 2026.

Red loved sports, both participating when he was younger and later watching his family play. He also enjoyed watching professional sports, including the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was a member of the Hartford Elks Lodge and after they closed the Lebanon Elks as well as a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 2571 in White River Jct.

He was very active in the Mt. Sinai Temple Shrine where he held several offices, including Chairman of the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl. He was a member of the F&AM Charity Lodge #43 in Bradford, Council #2 in Barre and Commandry #11. Red particularly enjoyed his time as a clown with the Royal Order of Jesters.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stone of Florida, sons, Michael R. Stone and his wife, Gigi of Calabash, NC, and Timothy W. Stone of Corolla, NC; daughter, Katherine Smith and her husband, Brett of Post Mills; grandchildren, Matthew, Sean, Tucker, Kevin, Lindsey, JJ and Casey, and many great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson Adam Stone, and great grandchildren, Madilyn Grace Smith and Asher Alan Smith.
