Perkinsville, VT - Raymond Norman Keszyinki, Sr., 86, died Friday morning, April 8th at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, VT.
He was born October 21, 1924 in Coventry, RI the son of Charles and Eugenie (Wintle) Kacznki. He attended school in Coventry. He served in the US Army during World War II, receiving the Bronze Star for bravery and meritorious service including at the Battle of the Bulge. He was married to Alberte Dansereau in Coventry and they lived in Coventry, RI for many years until her death on November 25, 1978. Raymond worked as a truck driver at Amtrol in East Greenwich, RI, retiring after twenty seven years as shipping and receiving supervisor in 1986. He was married to Barbara Burdick in Groton, CT on May 10, 1986. They moved to Perkinsville in 1990 where they have made their home since.
In October of 2010, Mr. Keszyinki was accompanied by his grandson, US Marine Sgt. Bernard Coyne on the honor flight tour of Washington, DC, visiting the national monuments and war memorials.
Mr. Keszyinki was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield as well as the Rolling Wheels Sams Camping Club in Chester, VT. He enjoyed working in his yard and travelling throughout New England.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Perkinsville, a son Raymond Keszyinki Jr., four daughters Christine Coyne, Kathleen Townsend, Helen Keszyinki and Gail Farias, eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 16th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Church in Springfield, VT with a luncheon to follow. Committal services will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Crompton, RI on Monday, April 18 at 1:00 PM. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor, VT has been entrusted with arrangements.
