Ascutney, VT – Ray W. Penn, Sr., 71, died on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital in Windsor after a long illness. Ray was born in Lebanon, NH on April 9, 1952, the second of six children to Fred E. and Florence G. (Woodward) Penn. Ray married Linda J. Burch on July 12, 1969, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Windsor and began working for Windsor Minerals in Brownsville. Their entire married life they lived in the Windsor area, raising a family and he built an excellent reputation as a clever engineer and electrician. He was largely self-taught, and thinking outside of the conventional box allowed him to engineer, design, and build machines or solutions that worked well. His catch phrase was: We make it happen.

Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda J. Penn; four children Ray Penn, Jr., Christopher Penn, Timothy Penn, and Angela Young; four siblings Fred "Butch" Penn, Jr., Peter Penn, Robert Penn, and Pamela Cooper; eight grandchildren Darian, Moses, Elijah, Hayley, Richard, Olivia, Everett, and Savannah; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children Everett Penn and Dawn Hulsart, and one sister Julie Penn.
