Hartford, VT – Ralph Steven Merriam, 62, died Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at home in Hartford, VT after a long illness.

Steve was born April 4, 1958 in Hanover, NH a son of Richard Sheldon and Margaret Rose-Lee (Hooker) Merriam. After graduating from Hartford High School, Steve began his career in metal fabrication, working for K Ross in Lebanon and White River Structural Steel in Hartford for many years. He later began his own company, R.S. Merriam Welding until his back gave out and he was no longer able to work.

In his younger years, Steve was an avid outdoorsman. He loved boating, camping, fishing and target shooting. He also enjoyed repairing antique sewing machines and building things. He was especially proud of the wood processor he built.

Steve is survived by a sister, Margaret Lynda Merriam of Wilder, VT and a brother Richard S. Merriam Jr. of Wilder, VT, along with nieces and nephews: Marsha R. (Merriam) Kendall of Wilder, VT, Jennifer L. (Perkins) and Logan A. Boudro of White River Jct., VT, and Jason L. Perkins of North Palm Beach, FL. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert S. Merriam.

A private committal will take place at a later date in the family cemetery plot in Rochester, VT.
