Hartland, VT
Rachael L. Eastman, 80, a lifelong resident of Hartland, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 16, at the family home she was born in, in Hartland.
She was born December 6, 1929 in Hartland the daughter of Russell and Elizabeth (White) Leve. She received her schooling in Hartland and Windsor. She graduated from Windsor High School. She married Leonard B. Eastman in Windsor on February 8, 1947. She was employed by the US Postal Service working as a Postal Clerk in Hartland for many years. She later was employed at Vermont Native Industries in Bridgewater for several years before returning to the Postal Service, working in Hartland, Hartland Four Corners, and Pomfret until her retirement in 2006. She attended the Hartland Congregational Church. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Mr. Eastman passed away on September 30, 1985. She was also predeceased by one son, Russell L. "Rusty" Eastman in 2006.
Survivors include one son, Mark F. Eastman of Lebanon, NH, one daughter, Beth L. Hale and her husband Greg, of Hartland, two grandchildren, Michael Eastman of Orwell, VT and Lindsey Eastman of Rutland, VT, two great grandchildren, Brandon Eastman and Bentley Eastman, both of Orwell, VT, two step grandchildren, Lenny and his wife Jackie Merriam of Windsor and Benjamin and his wife Katie Merriam of Claremont, two step great grandchildren, Lilly Merriam and River Merriam, one foster brother, Walter Leneau of South Carolina.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
