IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rachael G.
Brown
December 5, 1939 – July 3, 2022
Rachael G. Brown, died peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2022. She was 82. She will be forever remembered for her bright smile, her open arms, and warm heart.
Rachael was born December 5, 1939, in Springfield, VT, daughter of Clarence N. Sr. and Mary I. (Snell) Grover. She was the 3 rd youngest in a family of 10.
She attended elementary school in North Springfield, VT and graduated from Springfield High School in 1957. She was married to Raymond Wayne Brown of Bridgewater, VT on April 12, 1958, in North Springfield. They had two children shortly after, Sherry Elizabeth in 1960 and Michael James in 1962.
She worked at Cone-Pippin in Windsor and then at the VA Medical Center in White River Jct. for about three years. She then chose to be a stay-at-home mom for several years. Later, Rachael was employed by Watson and West insurance, Albert Young realtors, and then at Hartford insurance agency, where she became a licensed agent. She completed her career in the insurance industry at the Kinney Pike insurance company.
Rachael was prolifically involved in the community. She worked at the Windsor-Orange County Credit Union, as a substitute lunch program worker for Hartford school district and was appointed as an assistant town clerk for the town of Hartford. She was also on the board of civil authority since 1977 and was a past chairman of the board. She always enjoyed helping at the town clerk's office whenever needed.
She was on the supervisory committee of the VAF employees credit union for 12 years, where she was the chairman for several years. She also held several offices of the Hartford business and professional women's club.
A special project for Rachael was helping create the "Tiny Town Day Care" at the VA Hospital. She was a founding member of the Board of Directors and she remained on the Board for 9 years. She also volunteered as a Teachers' Aide for 6 of those years.
Rachael became a Justice of the Peace for the town of Hartford in 1977. In her 30 years as a Justice of the Peace, she performed over 450 marriages. She combined that interest with her amazing talent at creating decorative and special-designed cakes for weddings and birthdays, and she definitely will be remembered for her fantastic tasting cakes (and pies and doughnuts.)
Rachael's love and care of friends and family was her priority. She loved to spend time with many friends up at "the camp" in St. Albans. She was always there at a niece or nephew's graduation or wedding, and all the family reunions. She was there to hold the hand of her sisters and brother when they passed. She attended all Sherry and Michael's games and concerts. She enjoyed baking with her granddaughter, Kristin, "working" on cars with her grandson, Casey, and vacationing with her grandson, Patrick. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren who affectionately called her "gg" for "great-grandma." Above all, she will be remembered for her loving care of her husband during his last years.
She was predeceased by Raymond, her beloved husband of nearly 48 years; daughter, Sherry; sisters Ramona (Monie) Komulainen, Helen Varney, Florence Sain, Mary Austin, Evelyn Stonestreet, Althea (Chick) Bender; her brother, Clarence (Sonny) Grover, jr., and infant brother, Richard George Grover.
