Quechee, VT — Priscilla L. Murray, 94, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Priscilla was born on July 9, 1931, in New Bedford, MA. She attended New Bedford High School and went on to attend college. Following her education, she joined the United States Air Force, serving honorably for two years.
On October 3, 1953, she married Frederick E. Murray, Jr., in New Bedford, where they made their home. They later lived in North Dartmouth, MA, before moving to Barnard, VT in 1979, and eventually settled in Quechee.
Priscilla was a devoted and nurturing mother with a deep, natural instinct for caregiving. In addition to raising her three children, she opened her heart and home to 37 foster children over the years. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction She worked as a clerk at the Quechee Sweater Store and later as a home health aide.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in White River Junction, the Norwich American Legion Post #1819, and was a founding member of the Twin State Women in Armed Service.
Priscilla enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, and watching ice skating. She also loved dancing and in her younger years she danced professionally including once auditioning for the Rockettes.
She was predeceased by six siblings: Ralph, Allen, Elmer, Ruth, Betty, and Barbara.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Murray, Paul Murray, and Anne Coutermarsh; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Church in White River Junction. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
