Obituary

White River Jct., VT – Phyllis Tremaine, 84, died peacefully Thursday morning, May 26, at Valley Terrace assisted living community in White River Jct., VT. She was born, August 10, 1937, in New York, NY the daughter of James G. and Phyllis H. (Bickford) Tremaine. She grew up in Greenwich, CT.

Phyllis was an alumna of Westover School in Middlebury, CT and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Smith College in 1959. In her first job she worked as an Editor at American Heritage Publishing in New York City, NY. She eventually moved to Switzerland where she received her Master's in Business Administration and worked in several leading Business Schools in the country. She returned to the United Sates in 1988 and went on to become the Director of Development and Corporate Relations at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.

She was Swiss by marriage but retained her US Citizenship. Phyllis lived in Europe for close to twenty-five years and spoke fluent French. Phyllis was an avid tennis player and devoted Roger Federer fan. Off the court, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and finding English language inconsistencies in The Economist.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Sheila Talcott and Helen Gregory. She is survived by her son, Nicolas Iselin of Geneva, Switzerland, her daughter, Alexandra Beuret of Porrentruy, Switzerland, a sister, Mary Soutendijk of Vero Beach, FL, as well as nieces and nephews.
