Our beloved aunt and sister, Philomena M. Sacco of White River Junction passed away on the morning of December 24 after a long illness. She was 82. Phillie, or "Fifi" as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Whitehall, NY and moved with her family to White River Junction in 1941. She graduated from Hartford High in 1947 and worked for the phone company for 42 years, retiring in 1988. As the oldest girl of eight children, she dedicated her life to the care and happiness of her family, always thinking of others before herself.
Phillie loved to laugh and loved the art of finding good deals, becoming one of the greatest bargain shoppers of all time. She was extremely generous and kind, and would always drop everything to help a friend or family member in need. She loved cooking and entertaining family, and made sure everyone had plenty to eat and take home.
Her greatest joy though was found in her precious grandnephew Christopher. She helped raise him and loved spending time with him, cheering him on through his life's accomplishments, and laughing with him in a way that only the two of them shared. Phillie was truly a loving sister, aunt, and friend, and she will be greatly missed each and every day.
She is survived by those she loved most: her sister Marietta; her brothers Louis, Harry, Jerry, and James; brother-in-law Ken and sisters-in-law Janet and Doreen; seven nieces and six nephews, and twelve grandnieces and nephews, including her Christopher. She was predeceased in death by brothers Anthony and Andrew.
The family would like to thank DHMC, Doctors L'Heureux and Catherwood, Sherry Duveneck, and the VNA for their gentle care and concern for Philomena, as well as the many family and friends who provided constant support.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made in Philomena's name may be sent to LaSalette Shrine, 410 NH Route 4A, PO Box 420, Enfield, NH, 03748.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 29 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Knight Funeral Home in White River. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony's Church in White River on Thursday, December 30 at 10AM.
