Peter Keane, 89, proud husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; a former golf professional, veteran, and lifelong Upper Valley resident passed away August 13, 2022.
Peter Keane was born in Lebanon, NH March 29, 1933, to Thomas Francis Keane and Ethel Mae Keane (nee Fecteau). He was raised and lived in West Lebanon, NH. Earning a living on the golf course was a natural path for Peter as his father coached the Dartmouth golf team and was the Professional at Hanover Country club. It was here where Peter developed a lifelong passion and skill as a golfer. He was also an accomplished high school athlete, playing baseball and ski jumping. Peter graduated from West Lebanon High School, where he met his wife Cynthia Burch whom he married in 1957. Peter went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the Signal Corps and attended the University of Massachusetts/Amherst.
In 1951, Peter Keane became the youngest Class-A Golf Professional in New England at the age of eighteen. He also served as the President of the New England Professional Golf Association.
Peter was predeceased by his parents and siblings Gloria Atchinson, Thomas Keane, Louise Mock, Robert Keane, and his wife Cynthia. He is survived by his sister Lucille Canavan and three daughters, Karen Keane Campbell, Lisa Keane, and Sarah Keane Williams. He is also survived by his grandsons Daniel Campbell and Evan Campbell and great grandchildren Nolan, Marla, and Owen Campbell.
