Obituary

Ascutney, VT
Peggy Lee(Bellows)Howe, 61, of Ascutney passed away peacefully at her home on June 10, 2012, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Peggy was born in Jeffersonville, Vermont, on November 19, 1950, to Charles and Barbara (Bogue) Bellows. In 1953, the family moved to Windsor, where her father, "Charley" had landed a position with Cone Automatic Machine Co. She resided in the Windsor area for most of her life. She graduated Windsor High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron Howe of Ascutney, that same year.
Peggy fashioned for herself a career in the hospitality industry. She worked as a hostess at numerous locations, including Stratton Mountain Resort, the Hartness House, Mount Ascutney Resort, Beach Cove Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and, most recently, the Hampton Inn and Comfort Suites in White River Junction. Peggy's total recall memory and chatty personality made her a "natural", and she truly enjoyed the interaction with guests and co-workers that her job provided. She touched the lives of many people with her friendly, outgoing personality and her contagious smile. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her father, Charley Bellows of Windsor, former husband, Ron Howe, of Ascutney, her son, Ronald Howe II of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, her daughter Monica Howe and only grandchild Jordan of Claremont, sister Pamela Duling of Myrtle Beach, brother Bert Bellows of Sparks, Nevada, several nieces and nephews, and her good friend Richard Conway of West Windsor, VT. She was pre-deceased by her mother Barbara, also a victim of cancer, in May of 2005.
Peggy was a loving and kind woman who brought much happiness, laughter and joy to family and friends. She spent a few years in Myrtle Beach, SC, and had aspirations of soon retiring to the area she loved to be near friends and family. Her family wishes to extend special thanks to Peggy's best friend since high school, Vicki Bishop, who came to stay and care for her during this difficult time.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, June 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Committal services will be held at a later date at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to pancreatic cancer research at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, in hopes that, one day, the world will be rid of this disease that affects so many. (Norris Cotton Cancer Center DHMC, 1 Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH, 03766)
