Hartland, VT- Pauline J. Dukeshire, 93, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center in Windsor, VT.

Pauline was born August 19,1927 in Lynn, MA, daughter of Earle and Melva (Woodworth) Smith. "Pinky" graduated from Saugus High School class of 1945. She married Robert E. Dukeshire on June 15,1949 in Saugus, MA. They made their home in Lynn, MA, where she worked as a bookkeeper while Robert was in school. They moved to Akron, OH for a short time before moving to Windsor, VT, in 1951 where they had honeymooned. In 1957 they moved to Hartland and became involved with the community. Pauline being a numbers person, volunteered numerous hours auditing the town books over the years.

Pauline ran the roost and managed a very large family while her husband's job took him near and far. Also known as "PJ", she also took care of both her and Robert's family members when needed and was known by so many for her advice and quips. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hartland. She enjoyed knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, staying connected with computers, and in her earlier years gardening. Her network of friends was her most treasured possession, and it grew far and wide even these last few years. She was so very proud of her Nova Scotia roots and made sure the grandkids had their clan tartans and scarves prior to passing. She planned everything. Finally, she enjoyed spending time at the family camp in Maine which brought her great joy in keeping family spirits alive.

"PJ" is survived by her daughter, Martha (husband, Ron Savageau), and sons, David (wife, Laura), Daniel (wife, Linda), Robert (wife, Hosanna), and Mark (wife, Brenda). She also leaves her treasured grandchildren, John, David, Thomas, Mariah, Sean, Nate, Daniel, Jessica and Jacob, and great grandchild Landon. Her husband Robert, brother Lee, and grandchild, Tyler predeceased her.

A celebration of Pauline's life will be held at Pauline and Bob's home in Hartland from 2-4PM on September 19 ^th , 2021. Interment will be in the Hartland Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in Windsor has been entrusted with arrangements.
