Paulina Jane (Howard) Blake

Hartland, VT – Paulina Jane (Howard) Blake, 92, passed away at her home in Hartland on Tuesday September 17th.

She was born July 31, 1921 in Randolph, VT one of six children of Ernest and Clytie (Hyzer) Howard. Paulina's family moved to West Hartford as a young child where she attended grammar school and later graduated from Hartford High School. She then attended Castleton Normal School, now Castleton State College, where she received her teaching degree for grades 1-8. Paulina taught at the Grout School in Hartland and lived at the Sunny Acres Farm where she met and later married Arthur Francis Blake. She remained a resident of Hartland for the remainder of her life. After a year of teaching she retired to raise a family and when they had grown and were in school she returned to work, this time at in the Alumni Fund Office at Dartmouth College. While working there Paulina attended a computer class in Boston, MA. She retired at the age of 71.

Mrs. Blake enjoyed being with her family and friends, working on her genealogy, attending the Latter-Day Saints Church and visits from the home study teachers in her home. She was loved by all, and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother and friends.

There will be no visiting hours.

Paulina was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, and four brothers Ralph Ransom, Walter Ernest, John Ralph and Royal Ransom.

She is survived by her five children Marianne Susan Alger, David Howard Blake, Lester Francis Blake, Jane Elizabeth Fournier, Samuel Ernest Blake and Jonathan Daniel Blake; ten grandchildren Leeann, Justin, Simon, Locke, Mary, Susan, David, Daniel, Joshua and Jeffrey; six great-grandchildren Victoria, Elizabeth, Braylin, Breckin, Hannah and Joseph as well as her brother Arthur Otto Howard
