Paul E. Hoisington, 91 a longtime resident of West Windsor, passed away Saturday morning, May 12 at his home in West Windsor.
He was born April 20, 1927 in West Windsor the son of Vivace and Liona (Clough) Hoisington, though he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Clarence "Bud" Butterfield. He received his schooling in West Windsor and Windsor, graduating from Windsor High School. He married Vera Oakes on January 9, 1949 till her passing on October 3, 2016. Mr. Hoisington was employed with the United States Postal Service in White River Jct., for twenty five years until his retirement in 1992. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Vermont, where he was a member of the Vermont Army National Guard in Windsor for many years.
He was a member of the Vermont Masonic Lodge #18 in Windsor, the Windsor Chapter RAM #6 and a life member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25.
Mr. Hoisington served on the West Windsor Cemetery Commission and as a Trustee of the Campbell Fund. Some of the other positions in West Windsor he held short term were in the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Department, Town Constable and Assistant Game Warden.
He greatly enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing with his wife and feeding the birds and squirrels. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Hoisington is predeceased by his wife, parents and stepfather.
Survivors include one daughter, Pauline Angier and her husband, Bob of Woodsville, NH, three sons, Emerson Hoisington and his wife, Jane of Brownsville, Lynwood Hoisington and his wife, Brenda of Hartland, and David Hoisington and his wife, Theresa, also of Hartland, one foster sister, Katherine Hayes of Florida, ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
At Mr. Hoisington's request, services will be held at the convenience of his family. Committal services will be held in the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor.
