WINDSOR, VT
Paul J. Harrington, 76, a resident of Windsor and formerly of Millis, MA, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, May 13 at the Elm Wood Center in Claremont, NH following a long battle with lung and brain cancer.
He was born April 9, 1941 in Claremont, the son of Paul M. and Ovis (Hammond) Harrington. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School. He moved to Massachusetts in the late 1960's where he eventually took up residence in Millis, MA and started his own company, Harrington Tree Service and worked as a successful certified arborist for over forty years. As a leader in his craft, he taught many young arborists in the Boston area.
When Paul was not working you could find him hunting, fishing or enjoying the races at Rockingham Park. Foe many years, he coached sports throughout the town of Millis and Medway including baseball, soccer and basketball.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Shawnee Gribbons and Jean Marden, and one brother, Matthew Harrington.
Survivors include one son, Shane Harrington of Cocoa Beach, FL, two daughters, Arlene Lagos and her husband, Stephen of Millis, MA and Cheryl Hinrichs and her husband, David of Westwood, NJ, his only grandchild, Shawnee Jean Lagos, three sisters, Joan Grant of Sutton, MA, Janet Moscarillo of Potomac, MD, Kathleen Daunheimer of Beaver Creek, OH, three brothers, Thomas Harrington of Ascutney, VT, Peter Harrington of New York State and Andrew Harrington of Brownsville, VT, several nieces and nephews, whom he adored, and many close friends.
Visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Thursday evening, May 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 19 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. Rev. Charles R. Danielson will be the Celebrant. Committal services will follow in the Brownsville Cemetery in West Windsor. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Brownsville Methodist Church.
