Patricia Lucienne Bisson Terry, a longtime resident of Windsor, died Tuesday, November 14, at the Stoughton House, where her five children were born when the facility was the Windsor Hospital. She was 96.
She became a resident of Windsor in 1941 when she came to work at the Windsor House. It was here she met, whom she always said was "the love of her life", Charles A. Terry. Patricia and Charles Terry were married on November 27, 1941 at St. Monica's Church in Barre before returning to Windsor to work and to raise a family of five children.
Patricia Bisson Terry was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1921 in Orange, VT on the family's dairy farm. She was the daughter of Wilfrid and Alvina (Morrie) Bisson, the oldest girl in a family of 12 children. She attended a one-room school in Orange and graduated from Mount Saint Mary's Academy in Burlington, VT and continued her education at the University of Vermont the following year.
During her life in Windsor, Patricia was employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, and then for 23 years at the Cone Blanchard Machine Company in the accounting department.
Her husband, Charles, was employed for 42 years at the Cone Blanchard Machine Company, as well. Mr. Terry predeceased his beloved wife of 65 years on June 12, 2006.
Her five children, their spouses and their children survive Patricia Bisson Terry. They are Stephen C. Terry and his wife, Faith of Middlebury, VT; John P. Terry and his wife, Lynn of Monticello, FL; Thomas F. Terry and his wife, Karen of White River Jct., VT; Ellen Balkcom of Norton, MA: and Margaret Terry and her wife, Joanne Mattiace of Windham, ME.
Four of her siblings, Robert Bisson of Stuyvesant, NY; Wilfred Bisson of Deland, FL; Irene Neddo of Orange, VT, and Bernard Bisson of Montpelier, VT also survive Patricia Bisson Terry.
Mrs. Terry was an active and devout member of the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor and for many years volunteered her time for church related activities.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 1 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Rev. Charles R. Danielson, Pastor will be the Celebrant. Committal services will follow in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church in Fellowship Hall.
