Hartland, VT- Patricia L. Rosson, 88, died March 5, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
Pat was born on March 20, 1936, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Raymond and Ethyl Lewis. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1954. Pat operated a farm and kennel in Bethany, CT breeding German Shepherds. She was a member of the Bethany Ambulance Corps., a division of the BVFD. She married Arthur Rosson on December 20, 1976, in Bethany, CT, and were two of the Bethany Horse Association. They moved to Hartland, Vermont in 1987.
In Hartland, Pat found great comfort living on the farm in the countryside. She continued to breed German Shepards and added Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Halflinger horses, and sheep.
Pat had a lifelong passion for horsemanship, trail riding, and parading. She enjoyed being a destination for the Vermont 100 Miler and for many years was a finish line judge. She was a member of the Windsor American Legion Auxiliary Post #25 and served as Lister for the Town of Hartland. Pat was also a substitute teacher and loved working with children.
She enjoyed caring for her many animals, gardening, volunteering, cooking, and baking. She was affectionately known as the "Cookie Lady" because she always had a pocket full of dog treats, and because she loved baking cookies for loved ones as a show of her affection. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rosson, and her brother, Raymond Lewis. She is survived by her five sons: Richard Warner (Nancy) of Hartland, VT; Randall Warner (Gigi Lawrence) of Bethany, CT; Robert Warner (Lisa) of Woodbridge, CT; Raymond Rosson (Jeannie) of Oxford, CT; and Cliff Rosson (Linda...deceased) of Bethany, CT. She is also survived by two daughters: Catherine Wilder (Bruce) of Hartland, VT, and Allison Rosson; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Pat Lewis of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made to American Legion Post #25, The First Congregational Church of Hartland, and Bethany Volunteer Fire Department (CT).
Services followed by a reception will be held at the First Congregational Church of Hartland on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11:30. Burial will take place at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, date to be determined. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with the arrangements.
