Quechee, VT – Patricia Y. Peters, 91, died Thursday April 22, 2010 at Genesis Eldercare Lebanon Center with her daughter by her side.
She was born June 17, 1918 in Philadelphia the daughter of Arnot Duncan and Honoré Patricia (Lalley) Yocum.
Mrs. Peters graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. Graduating with honors she pursued a modeling career in the Philadelphia area.
She was devoted to her husband of 69 years, Donald J. Peters, who predeceased her on May 15, 2007. Former residents of New Castle and Portsmouth, NH they moved to Quechee in 1999.
Mrs. Peters volunteered for several Portsmouth organizations including an early member of the Guild of Strawberry Bank, Theater by the Sea, the Portsmouth Garden Club and was active with the Portsmouth Bridge Club.
Her interests included playing tournament Duplicate Bridge with her husband and assisting him with their business, Centra Serv of Portsmouth, a home design company.
She will be remembered for her love of literature and poetry but foremost for her passion of the seacoast; combing the rocky beaches eagerly searching for a piece of glass, discarded, broken, etched by sea salt, sand and sun and shells of every shape and size. A wanderer who enjoyed gazing at the gulls, bright waves and sky and sun.
Survivors include two sons, Donald J. Peters of Haverhill, MA; Stephen L. Peters of NC; a daughter Honoré P. Kohler of Quechee. One granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Green of Stamford, CT; four grandsons, Keith A. Kohler of Portsmouth, NH, Donald Peters of Arlington, MA, Michael Peters of New York City and Stephen C. Peters of Cary, NC as well as four great grandsons and a great granddaughter.
There will be no services per the family's request. Private interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portsmouth.
